The Kwikset SmartCode 915 Touchscreen Electronic Deadbolt is a stylish, very well constructed and quality product with a good array of features, as well as the choice of finishes to match your existing door hardware. The installation process, aided by the generally easy to understand instructions, is relatively short and simple, especially if you are replacing an existing Kwikset deadbolt. A template is provided if you are performing a new installation which will, of course, greatly add to the time. Though no lock is invincible, I especially like the added security of the heavier duty, thicker strike plate with four screws (two of which are EXTRA long) instead of the usual two screws for installation. Setup of codes and features after installation is also reasonably fast and forthright, aided again by the easy to follow instructions. The SmartKey feature is an additional benefit, allowing the user to have the same key for both the new deadbolt and the existing door knob / lock. And as someone who sometimes forgets to lock the front door of my residence, I especially like the Auto Lock feature (can be disabled) which activates the deadbolt after 30 seconds. The only downside to that particular feature is that the deadbolt, without the ability to know that the door is actually closed, will activate and engage even when the door is open, resulting in a sometimes unwanted, unnecessary and battery wasting operation. The only negative I can find with regard to installation is that the wire which connects the inside and outside units is somewhat hard to stow away in the inside cover due to the comparatively bulky size of the wiring connector. And the only negative in operation of the lock is that the touchscreen is sometimes slightly hard to initially "wake up" (maybe I just haven't found the right spot on the touchscreen), in that more than one attempt might be necessary, though once awake, entries are very easily and smoothly made. Aside from those points, there is just so much to like about this unique lock!
